The B STRONG Shoe Giveaway is an annual event run by the Braden Aboud Memorial Foundation, which selects a local elementary school, and distributes new tennis shoes to all its’ students. Schools are chosen based on the percentage of economically disadvantaged that make up their enrollment, and the school’s willingness to help the children earn their shoes through physical fitness and positive behavior.
Over the past three years, the Braden Aboud Memorial Foundation has distributed more than 1,800 shoes to students at Aoy Elementary, Roberts Elementary and Hart Elementary schools. Students earn their shoes by demonstrating positive behavior and participating in the B STRONG program and events.
This year we are proud to announce that Travis Elementary School has earned their shoes, and will receive them on April 20th, 2012!
The Braden Aboud Memorial Foundation is a volunteer organization that has distributed more than $300,000 to our area schools and athletes in the last 4 years. The funding for this Foundation comes from our yearly Run/Walk, which allows the Foundation to continue to give back to this great community. The Braden Aboud Memorial Foundation was formed to ensure children from all walks of life could have some of the same opportunities Braden enjoyed in his lifetime. The Foundation provides an avenue through sports that will help promote positive self-esteem and create lifelong friendships amongst the children in our community!
Applications for the B STRONG Shoe Giveaway are accepted from August through October each year. To nominate your school, check out the resources listed below!
